We've all heard the adage that secrets can kill. Well, in All Her Little Secrets by Wanda Morris, that saying takes on a completely different meaning. From an outsider's view, Ellice Littlejohn seems like she has it all. A successful, upward moving career, friends and family who care for her and money. However, after the sudden, unexpected death of her boss, her life begins to spiral out of control. Internally, she is taunted with the burden of not knowing who she can trust and keeping herself and her family safe, all while maintaining a 'put-together' exterior for her onlookers. This thriller is not short on twist, turns, and unexpected plot twists!

As any woman knows, having a few good friends is priceless. They are there to share in your highs and your lows, and are always willing to lend you their ears. The Other Side, by Trice Hickman showcases the dynamic relationship that evolves between three women, Bernadette, Tess, and Arizona. Coincidentally, all three women share the same birthday, and this is the initial reason they begin to bond. As their friendship evolves, they begin to learn more about each other...and their love lives. One woman finally finds the love of her life...or so she thinks. His dark, sketchy past threatens to dissolve their connection just when it starts to heat up. Another woman, has what she thinks is the perfect man. He is handsome, successful, an amazing stepdad to her son, and a great provider. However, he has one small problem that she is finding challenging to deal with. Our third friend has an at-ti-tude! She is crass, and at times downright rude! Is there anyone that can love such a person?
It was so easy for many of our LIT readers to feel like the fourth member of their clique. Trice Hickman does an amazing job of making each character relatable, thus making the reader vested in their journey. Go ahead, read it and find out for yourself!
After reading The Other Side, by Trice Hickman, we just had to know what happened to our three friends in our heads, Bernadette, Tess, and Arizona. Let's just say that Mrs. Hickman did not disappoint! So many questions were answered, and some of the answers were not expected at all! Did the ladies find the love they were all so desperately seeking? If so, was it with the love interests from the previous book? Are they happy? How did Arizona deal with her 'little' problem?
It was refreshing to go along on the journey as each woman grew and matured. It wasn't and easy road for any of them. They faced challenges along the way and in each chapter, you will find yourself wanting to sit down and have a one-on-one with at least one of the ladies. However, there is one thing that is a constant in their tumultuous lives, and that is the authentic, true, genuine friendship they share.
Mrs. Hickman creates a bond that no reader will want to see broken between these ladies. They care for each other the way most of us hope our friends will care for and treasure us.
A beautiful black mermaid! Yes! This book is about a beautiful black mermaid! When we say representation matters, this is what we are talking about!
Skin of the Sea is tale of the heroic adventure of Simi, a Mami Wata (aka a mermaid) who has the task of ushering the souls of would-be slaves who were thrown over or chose to jump off the ship as they made their way through the murky waters of the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
